Put on your fake mustaches (Talkingship patent pending) and put on your cowboy hat, because you’ll be emulating Burt Reynolds in Need for Speed: The Run. Or will you? Will this game live up to the classic movie?

Bastion Review – Build It Strong

July 19, 2011 | 2

Bastion is a game that Talkingship has been following closely since it first caught our attention at PAX 2010.  It was part of the PAX 10, one of ten independently developed games that were showcased.  At that time, we named it our Game of PAX 2010.  Well, the game and the team at Supergiant have come a long way since then.  Bastion was published by Warner Bros. and is the first game in Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade for 2011. However, the question remains: Does the game live up to the hype?

Trailerpalooza – February 2011

March 6, 2011 | 7

EDIT: Sorry for the late post, the site went down temporarily and I held off on reposting this so I wouldn’t push everyone’s articles off the front page.

Welcome to Trailerpalooza! This is a new article we’ll be putting up monthly, gathering some of the most interesting trailers of the month that was, for games that are coming down the pipe.  Let’s get into it!  Click on the logo thumbnails to view the trailers.

[rokbox title="The 3rd Birthday" thumb="http://talkingship.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/3rdbirthday.jpg" size="854 505" album="demo"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEERafnfwqs[/rokbox]

First up is The Third Birthday, which is the third in the Parasite Eve series featuring protagonist Aya Brea. I'll be honest, I haven't played the sequel, but I was really impressed with the original. I've heard there's lots of masagonist pandering in this one but hey, if you've got a PSP and need to get one last hurrah out of it before the NGP launches, this may be your kind of game.  The Third Birthday is set to be released on March 29 in the USA.

The Era of Indie

February 18, 2011 |

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is challenging, innovative, quirky and creative. Everything an Indie game should be.

What’s your perception of independently developed games?  Do visions of weirdly textured first-person shooter mod maps come to mind?  Do you think of flash games of dubious quality?  Or do you think of games like Braid, Eets, Monday Night Combat, Super Meat Boy, and Limbo?  Any of these answers are correct – there is a lot of shovelware that comes from independent studios.  But dig deeply enough, and you’ll find some of the best games on any platform.  And here’s the beauty part: The best of Indie Gaming is yet to come.  We have never, and may never, have a year that was the “Year of the Indie”.  But strap in, because we’re entering the Era of Indie.

Editorial: A Letter to Activision.

January 11, 2011 | 5

Oh Activision, Why have you forsaken me!

Did I not pay enough money to get CoD: Black Ops in my hands in the first place?

Have I not payed enough money for your DLC in your games previous iteration’s?

Will I not fork out enough money for map packs still to come?

Is it because I’m… Australian?

Of all the things I’ve done for you, in buying your product, and playing it more than any other game I own, I have never asked for much in return, except for one tiny, little, itsy bitsy thing…

Redhook Sausagefest – Beer Reviews

September 19, 2010 | 3

Yeah, I went to a giant Sausagefest.  There was sausage as far as the eye could see.  And it was awesome.  It was the Redhook Brewery Sausagefest, a celebration of music, sports, beer, and meat.

Inside the Sausagefest

Yeah, it was a Sausagefest, but chicks were allowed, too.

Like all great breweries, Redhook serves good food and doesn't take itself too seriously.
