We’re fast approaching E3, which means that the bulk of releases for this year have yet to be announced, but that doesn’t mean May is entirely empty of games. There aren’t many new releases, but the ones that are coming out are all set to be great. Check out the list below for a look at the three games of May you should keep your eyes on. Read More

REVIEW: Monument Valley

April 10, 2014 |

Playing Monument Valley is a weird experience. It doesn’t last very long, but for the hour or two that you are playing, you’re torn between progressing with the puzzles or just staring slack-jawed at the screen. Because this isn’t just a game: it’s gorgeous, beautiful art.  Read More

EGX Rezzed Preview: Skies of Saturn

April 3, 2014 |

I didn’t really get Skies of Saturn. You’re controlling a sail, and you can steer it through the world, catching the wind and squeezing yourself tight to fit through narrow gaps. But I didn’t get what the point was. Normally this isn’t an issue: I quite like games without an objective, in fact. But Skies of Saturn kept hinting that there was something more: cubes to collect, but nothing obvious about what to do with them. It was mysterious, but in a bad way: when I asked the developer if there was an objective and got the reply “You tell me”, that summed up my experience with the game quite well. It’s more than a little pretentious.  Read More

EGX Rezzed Preview: The ARC

April 2, 2014 |

Supposedly inspired by recent platformers such as Rayman Origins or Super Meat Boy, The ARC is a sphere-based puzzle game. The premise is somewhat ridiculous (you’re inserted into a virtual reality to save your boyfriend, I think?), but the gameplay … Read More

EGX Rezzed Preview: Narcissus

April 2, 2014 |

Narcissus is an utterly genius iPad and PC platformer, where each level has two characters: one on each side of the screen. They are reflections of each other: one is facing you, and the other is walking upside down (unless you walk over to the other side of the iPad, where he’ll be facing up). The controls are beautifully simple: tap the top half of the screen to make the top character jump; and the bottom half to make the bottom character jump. Sounds straightforward? It’s anything but. REVIEW: Rayman Legends (Next Gen Update)

March 31, 2014 |

When I first played Rayman Legends on the Wii U almost a year ago, I knew it was going to be brilliant. Since then, it’s been delayed for months, is no longer a Wii U exclusive, and has flown under the radar a little. But none of these things matter, because I was right: Rayman Legends is absolutely brilliant. Read More
