August 30, 2011 | Fisherman 4Put on your fake mustaches (Talkingship patent pending) and put on your cowboy hat, because you’ll be emulating Burt Reynolds in Need for Speed: The Run. Or will you? Will this game live up to the classic movie?
Bastion Review – Build It Strong
July 19, 2011 | Fisherman 2Bastion is a game that Talkingship has been following closely since it first caught our attention at PAX 2010. It was part of the PAX 10, one of ten independently developed games that were showcased. At that time, we named it our Game of PAX 2010. Well, the game and the team at Supergiant have come a long way since then. Bastion was published by Warner Bros. and is the first game in Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade for 2011. However, the question remains: Does the game live up to the hype?

March 6, 2011 | Fisherman 7EDIT: Sorry for the late post, the site went down temporarily and I held off on reposting this so I wouldn’t push everyone’s articles off the front page.

[rokbox title="The 3rd Birthday" thumb="http://talkingship.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/3rdbirthday.jpg" size="854 505" album="demo"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEERafnfwqs[/rokbox]First up is The Third Birthday, which is the third in the Parasite Eve series featuring protagonist Aya Brea. I'll be honest, I haven't played the sequel, but I was really impressed with the original. I've heard there's lots of masagonist pandering in this one but hey, if you've got a PSP and need to get one last hurrah out of it before the NGP launches, this may be your kind of game. The Third Birthday is set to be released on March 29 in the USA.
Magicka Q&A
February 26, 2011 | Fisherman 1You may have heard us discussing Arrowhead Games’ wildly successful quirky adventure game, Magicka, on the recent podcasts. I got the chance to have a question and answer session with Patrik Lasota from Arrowhead Games.
The Era of Indie
February 18, 2011 | Fisherman
What’s your perception of independently developed games? Do visions of weirdly textured first-person shooter mod maps come to mind? Do you think of flash games of dubious quality? Or do you think of games like Braid, Eets, Monday Night Combat, Super Meat Boy, and Limbo? Any of these answers are correct – there is a lot of shovelware that comes from independent studios. But dig deeply enough, and you’ll find some of the best games on any platform. And here’s the beauty part: The best of Indie Gaming is yet to come. We have never, and may never, have a year that was the “Year of the Indie”. But strap in, because we’re entering the Era of Indie.
