Arkham Origins is a strange game. It follows Arkham Asylum and City: two of my favourite games. Unlike the previous two, Origins isn’t developed by Rocksteady: WB Montreal have instead been given the reins. The strange thing is…you can’t really tell. Because Origins feels exactly like City: too much like it.
For a few years now, the hype machine for GTA V has been steaming along, with every little piece of new info causing the mouths of eager gamers to salivate. Well, now the video game behemoth is back, and it’s every bit as good as the hype suggested. Rockstar have effortlessly introduced some groundbreaking tweaks to the formula whilst providing that instantly recognisable GTA experience.
We here at Talkingship have been excited for GTA V for a long, long time. We believed the hype. We were foolish, in hindsight. How could a game ever live up to such high expectations? I was hoping that I’d start this review by saying that it exceeded my expectations. Instead, it’s quite the opposite. GTA V is so far off the mark that it’s not even funny.
When I first played Rayman Legends on the Wii U almost a year ago, I knew it was going to be brilliant. Since then, it’s been delayed for months, is no longer a Wii U exclusive, and has flown under the radar a little. But none of these things matter, because I was right: Rayman Legends is absolutely brilliant.
When Guacamelee came out earlier this year, we were blown away by just how good it was. With just the right mix of combat and tough platforming, it’s easily one of the best indie titles we’ve played in a long time. Now it’s back with some punishingly hard DLC called El Diablo’s Domain. More Guacamelee must be a good thing…right?
Last year’s The Walking Dead stunned the gaming world with its realistic characters, soul-crippling decisions and heart-wrenching plot. Now Telltale are back with some DLC to bridge the gap to Season 2. Does 400 Days live up to the high expectations, or is it zombie food?
