Are you ready to scour the world of Pandora in search of new and exciting loot? I know I am, and 2K games is finally giving me another excuse to dust off my Hunter and climb back into a Monster with some buddies to take on all the Skags they can throw at me! Today, August 11th, 2K Games announced the 4th DLC for my beloved Borderlands!
Claptrap’s Robot Revolution will be released sometime in September and will cost $9.99 (or 800 MS points). The expansion will allow you to gain 10 more skill points, which I assume means the level cap will be raised from 61 to 71, remember however that Moxie’s gave us a few more skill points without levels. There will be 20 new missions and 3 more backpack slots. I haven’t been able to find out if this means there will be new areas to explore, but if not then this would be the first DLC to not include a new area, so it’s safe to assume it does.
The only information about the plot of the new DLC is obvious in the title, Claptrap’s Robot Revolution. Apparently the little robot friends that have become iconic to the Borderlands universe are starting a revolution. What we do know is that some of your former enemies will become your friends as the humans across Pandora scramble to take on the rise of the robots. We have also discovered that many of the new enemies in this DLC will be reskinned, familiar foes, like robotic versions of Skags, Rakks, and Crabs. And if the former DLCs provide a template for this game, then you can expect your new nemesis, a mysterious enemy known only as Ninja Claptrap, to be hilarious and charismatic.
I hope to see you all reporting for duty on Pandora the day this DLC is released! Viva La Robolution!!
EDIT – Kotaku just reported that there will not be a level cap increase, but instead there will be rewards that get you the extra 10 skill points. A tad bit disappointing, but my heart’s not broken.
