Shark Tank: An Original Show From ABC

There is one thing that everyone loves, people will kill for it, steal for it, and work their asses off for it, and that is MONEY!  And that’s exactly what the show Shark Tank is all about.  Instead of serving up some fake drama or a cheesy sob story, Shark Tank offers a totally NEW concept.

Why's it smell like fish in New York?

The show consist of four “sharks” or self-made billionaires, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Kevin O’ Leary, and Robert Herjavec (linked Wikipedia pages).  These “sharks” have new products or ideas pitched to them from anyone who has an idea.  They then decide if they are interested in the product or company, and they invest.  Usually the person in the “tank” (pitching the product) asks for a certain amount, say, $500,000 for a 15% stake in the product.

The show is interesting just to see all the ideas, but it really heats up when the sharks fight.  If an idea seems like a real money-maker they will battle for it, and the sharks can really turn on each other.  Every few episodes they will throw in another guest shark to sit in and invest along with them.  They also frequently show updates, which allow the viewers to see where past ideas are today, most of which are successful.  The show can get tense, but sometimes the ideas are absolutely awful, and the sharks can smell a bad idea from miles away!

Below I list my favorite ideas pitched on the show:

5. Body Jac: Push Up Assistant (website)

4. TC Pets: Treasure Chest Pets (website)

3. Hells Bells Helmets: 3D Bike Helmets (website)

2. Nubrella: Hand-Free Umbrella (website)

1. ChordBuddy: Easy Guitar Learning System (website)

Watch Shark Tank HERE (hulu) or on ABC on Friday evenings.

Not exactly original. It’s based on a British show which was based on a Japanese show. However, the concept is still good and I enjoy the show.

i was referring to the fact that there are no shows in the US that are really anything like it, since there are so many cop dramas, and pawn shows, its a pretty unique show still!

I really, really like this show. It’s one of the few that’s on my DVR to set to record, and that Jamie and I can watch together and enjoy (maybe not equally). It’s always fun for me to do the math in my head and figure out if I’d invest in some of these people.

me to, sometimes i fell truly sorry for them when they have so many good offers, or they hesitate and the sharks will drop out or lower their amount!

I want to say there was a show like this five or so years ago. Not quite as dramatic as this one sounds but I liked it so I’ll give this a shot.

I love Shark Tank, it’s a great reasource for entrepreneurs! I’ve had a few business ideas myself but am never sure if they’re good enough to “make” it. I recently read a book titled “HOT or NOT: How to Know if Your Business Idea Will Fly or Fail”, and it helped me pin point the areas of weakness in my idea so I could work on them before trying to find investors. If any of you other aspiring entrepreneurs out there would like some help, I’d definitely recommend checking this book out! http://www.amazon.ca/Hot-Prof-Sean-Evan-Wise/dp/1468024493/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330874015&sr=8-1

Maybe you think that some would say that they can use that method for saving the powers usage. But they have make sure there’s no error with it.
