A new year, a new Call of Duty…but this one’s a little different.
Having put the Modern Warfare franchise to one side, Activision has moved onto the future with Sledgehammer Games’ Advanced Warfare. It’s set in a not-too-distant future America, where private military corporations are quickly gaining power, and the political system is falling apart. Kevin Spacey (yes, that Kevin Spacey) plays the primary antagonist (both voice and motion capture, it seems), who has no respect for the government and despises democracy. We don’t know much else about the game – the trailer shows off the usual assortment of levels, which is what we’ve come to expect from Call of Duty, but Spacey’s involvement signifies that the story will probably be significantly better than in past games. We can’t imagine him being in a game with a terrible story, so hopefully we’ll have something better than the abomination that was last year’s Ghosts.
We’ll likely hear more about Advanced Warfare in the weeks leading up to E3. For now you can watch the trailer above, and get ready for November 4.
