It’s official, Sony is going above and beyond expectations yet again. When news of the launch of the Playstation 4 first arrived, the initial word was that it would be released in December. Microsoft appeared to have a slight advantage in that the X1 is slated for a November release, but today at the Gamescon event in Germany, Sony unveiled their plan to release the Playstation 4 on November 14th in North America, and November 29th in Europe.

Microsoft has yet to reveal the exact release date of the X1, but many people are expecting it to be November 5th, since Call of Duty – Ghosts is being released that day and it is a planned launch title for the system.

If you’re like me, and you’re planning on getting both systems on their release date, then November suddenly got a bit tighter on the wallet than it had been before! Still though, it’s a shame the PS4 and the X1 (likely) won’t be available for the Extra Life event (24 hours of non-stop gaming!) on November 2nd.
