Blendoku is a free iOS game. And it’s downright brilliant.
It’s not often that iOS games captivate me. Recently I’ve downloaded games, played them for an hour and then deleted them. But Blendoku‘s changed everything. This simple puzzle game is one of the best titles I’ve played in a long time. And I’m addicted.
The premise is deceptively simple. You’re presented with an array of colors, and you have to place them onto a board in the correct order, so that they blend together perfectly. As you progress through the game, the boards become more complicated, and the number of colors increases. The differences between each swatch may be minuscule, but even a tiny hint of green makes a big difference when you get down to blending at a more minute level.
It’s a really difficult game to put into words, but once you’ve started playing you won’t be able to put it down. It’s insanely addictive, and contains a huge number of free levels. You won’t be able to complete all of them: the game is remarkably challenging. But there are so many that you won’t feel short changed when you skip a level. If by some miracle you do manage to finish all the levels, you have a few options ahead of you: either buy some more through in app purchases, or go back and solve each level in one try, as quickly as possible (your time on each level is measured). This means that the replayability is endless, and you will certainly never get bored.
Picking up your brain and placing it well outside your comfort zone, Blendoku is a remarkably refreshing addition to the iOS game library. For the low low price of free, you’d be insane not to download it.
