Jimmy Fallon Honors Pink Floyd

Thank you, Jimmy, for making this happen.

Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time, and Jimmy Fallon is my favorite former SNL star that now has their own late night talk show!  Put those two things together and you turn me into a giddy fanboy (because of Pink Floyd, if you didn’t catch my sarcasm there.) Truth be told, I think I may have drunkenly watched Fallon’s show once, and then changed it to something on the History Channel.  Not that Fallon’s show is crap or anything, it’s just that I’m not generally a big fan of crap (HO HO!  The sarcasm runneth over.)  But today, Fallon has earned my ever lasting love and admiration.  All next week, Fallon is going to feature artists that are honoring the music of Pink Floyd!

Jimmy Fallon did this for the Rolling Stones a while back to commemorate the release of their classic album, Exile on Main Street.  Now he’s doing it again for Floyd, and fans need to take notice.  Here’s the plan:

Monday 9-26: The Shins are going to be performing “Breathe” off of Dark Side of the Moon.  Also, Pink Floyd’s drummer, Nick Mason, is going to be sitting down with Fallon to talk about the band’s history.

Tuesday 9-27: Roger Waters will be performing with the Foo Fighters!  Can I please type that sentence one more time?  Just cause it was soooo much fun to type!  Roger Mother Fucking Waters will be performing with the Foo Fighters!!!!!  They are going to perform “In the Flesh” off of The Wall.  Then Roger is going to sit down for an interview with Fallon.

Wednesday 9-28: MGMT will perform an early single from Pink Floyd’s Syd Barrett days, “Lucifer Sam” off of Piper at the Gates of Dawn.  This isn’t one of the songs I would have picked to include, but I’ll happily listen anyhow.

Thursday 9-29: Some country person that I am not familiar with named Dierks Bentley is going to be singing “Wish You Were Here” off of the album of the same name.  Okay, yeah, so Wednesday and Thursday aren’t all that awesome, but what about Friday?

Friday 9-30: The week is finished off with an appearance by Pearl Jam performing “Mother” off of The Wall.  That feels good all over!

So there you have it, Floyd-Freaks.  A full week of goodies (but no Gilmore? I is sad) to sit back and enjoy while consuming one of your favorite, uh, treats.  See you there!
