Hey everybody, I’m MystiMayhem and I’m a new recruit here on Talkingship. I’m going to write things for you lovely people to read and I wanted to introduce myself. You already know my name, which is the nickname I was given by my college roommates for the chaos I was always accidentally causing. Speaking of college, I’m still in it. I’ve changed my mind a few times. Now in year 5, I’m finishing the last credits of my English major and thinking about a teaching degree. But that’s all boring stuff, let’s move on.

I read a lot. Most of the stuff I read nowadays is for class but when I get free time I still read. My tiny apartment is covered in bookshelves and my Nook goes with me where ever I go. It seems, no matter how old I get, I still enjoy fantasy and science fiction the most, even if it was intended for a young adult audience. It’s a nice change of pace from classic literature. The Lord of the Rings is my favorite series and I love the movies just as much.

Movies are awesome. Bad horror movies, Michael Bay blow ‘em up movies, cerebral dramas, kids movies; they are all good. Netflix is my crack. My love for bad movies aside, I’ve actually found some pretty awesome movies on Netflix when I can’t sleep. Now if only Netflix had Supernatural on it I would have no real need for cable.

I love gadgets. If I get a new gadget I tinker with it. My iPod is jailbroken and now works the way that it should, my Nook is rooted and it runs faster and the battery lasts longer, and putting Linux on my laptop was like giving it a new life. I like tinkering and I like deciding how my stuff works. It’s a good way to learn problem solving too, because I screw up a lot.

Scotch is man’s crowning achievement. I’m a beer fan, just like many of my shipmates. I grew up in Wisconsin which has quite a few breweries and some of them even have decent beer. I like to pretend Pabst and Old Milwaukee don’t exist. But even a Fat Squirrel from New Glarus is no match for my least favorite scotch. Give me a Glenlivet 18 year and I’m as happy as can be.

Oh yeah, games.I play games too. My PC isn’t the greatest in the world so I’m limited on what I can play on it. Mostly I game on my XBOX and my Android phone. Skyrim could easily consume my life if I let it. Right now it’s my favorite game on XBOX. I am a fan of the Halo and Assassin’s Creed games as well. On PC I play a lot of Minecraft, Lord of the Rings Online, and Oblivion. Being the typical broke college student, I play a lot of old games because that’s what I can afford. Holidays rock because there’s always a chance I’ll get something new to play. Old games are still awesome. Lately I’ve been playing through Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo 64 with my boyfriend who’d never played it before. By the way, that game rocked just as much as I remembered it did.

I Can’t live without music. I listen to just about everything. I’m not the biggest fan of rap or country music but besides that I like most things. In the last week I’ve listened to Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, an album of drumming from around the world, Evanescence,  The Planets by Holt, and LMFAO. I get bored if I listen to too much of the same thing. I’m also really fortunate to live in a city with tons of free and cheap concerts. Most of the time it’s up and coming local bands but I did get to see Papa Roach play at a small venue down the street last year.

I like a lot of things and float between all sorts of hobbies so when I spotted a chance to write about stuff I enjoy on a website I already loved, I couldn’t pass it up. I already know this website and community is awesome and I’m very excited to be apart of it. Alright everybody, I’m off to plot my revenge against Cob. See you around!
