Assassin’s Creed III: Awesomeness Confirmed!

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Assassin’s Creed III is on its way, slated to release on October 30th for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

With Ezio Auditore’s story being wrapped up in Revelations, the third installment of the series puts you in control of a brand new assassin, named Connor. That’s right: every Connor you know just became fifty times cooler.

Connor is of British and Native American heritage and born in the Mohawk Valley, and the developers even casted a man of Native American heritage to do the voice acting for the character. He’ll be wielding dual pistols, a bow and arrows, tomahawks and (obviously) the iconic hidden blade. From the game’s official box art we see Connor taking down a British Redcoat using his tomahawk, with tons of muskets, bayonets and flags waving in the background.

The game takes place throughout the late 1700’s, in which the player will be fighting during the American Revolution. Much like its previous installments, the game will include famous people from the historical era such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Charles Lee. Wait, does this mean we’re going to be able to be friends with Mr. One Dollar Bill himself, possibly meeting up to receive war and assassination missions? Is Ben Franklin going to make us some awesome new weapons?

The possibilities are endless!

Eighty percent of characters with names in the game are going to be based off of people in real life, with creative director Alex Hutchinson saying, “Every assassination target is a real person who dies at the right time and place. How they died, we’ll let you get a little bit artistic.” How cool is that?

A lot of the game will take place in New York and Boston, but it won’t be completely based on the war. That’s more of a base for the action while you fight for justice and freedom.

In addition to town buildings, you’ll be able to swing, jump, and lunge from trees in this game for stealthy forest maneuvering. Weather elements, such as snow based on the latest trailer, have been added in as well to create more versatile environments and playing techniques based on what the surrounding is like.

With twice the production team as the previous Assassin’s Creed, we can only expect the most awesome game to hit the series so far.

Oh yeah, and here’s a fun fact: you can assassinate bears in this game. Yeah, BEARS.
