Johnny Depp returns to form in this, his second take as Gonzo journalist madman, Hunter S Thompson.  Actually, that’s not entirely true.  While this movie, The Rum Diary, is based on a novel by Thompson, and features a protagonist that is suspiciously similar to the Hunter we’ve come to know and love, this is not a true story.  However, let’s all just agree that the character, Paul Kemp, is just a barely disguised alter-ego of Hunter and move along.

I, for one, couldn’t be happier to see Depp return to the screen in a Thompson project.  This looks tremendous!
