Time Traveler Video

Everyone is talking about this video, and if you haven’t seen it yet then you need to check it out.  I’ll give you my opinion below.

It’s fun to watch this sort of thing and start wildly speculating about what you’ve seen. The fact that this video has become a worldwide phenomenon and that so many people have declared this as 100% proof of time travel is absolutely unreal to me. Everyone should look at this as an example of how human beings can be so easily persuaded to believe ridiculous things (religion anyone?)

First off, people are claiming this woman is holding a cell phone – these people are idiots. Clearly it is NOT a cell phone as they require cell towers and service to work. If Verizon is smart they will get the rights to use this footage in a “Can you hear me now” commercial! Okay, so we’ve clearly proven that it is not a cell phone – is it some other type of speaking device? Well, it isn’t a walkie talkie as those weren’t invented for another decade and at the time were used for military purposes – plus they were a hell of a lot larger.  Still, people across the world are insisting this clip has captured a time traveler using some type of speaking device that did not exist at the time.

1920's era hearing aids

Here’s the truth – it is a hearing aid.  Sorry to ruin such a fun worldwide phenomenon, but as you can see in the picture I’ve attached, the device is clearly a hearing aid.  The cell phone shaped device on the left of the picture is a vacuum tube model that looks very similar to what this woman is holding.  Is it really so impossible to imagine that this lady had just purchased a new hearing aid and was talking into it to enjoy the sound?  It’s a hell of a lot easier to believe that then it is to believe a time traveler with a 1995 style cell phone got caught trying to sneak into the premier of a Charlie Chaplin flick.

Again, please remember the fervor surrounding this incident as an example of how ignorant the average person can allow themselves to be. The fact that this video has made it’s way onto nearly every news cast is appalling. People are so desperate to believe in the fantastic that they will take something as banal as this clip and use it as proof of the unbelievable. Do yourself and your friends a favor and correct them when they incorrectly give credence to this video.

Just one quick thing, I’m pretty sure that if people can time travel they don’t need cell phone towers.

How else are you gonna tell everyone you are in a Charlie Chaplin film!
