Red Letter Media Reviews Star Trek

Plinkett reviews Star Trek

If you are unfamiliar with the Plinkett Reviews, then waste no time in getting over to their site and start watching their videos.  For those of you, like me, that have been addicted to their reviews, I have some good news.  They just released a review for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek!

This site became famous for their 70 minute review of Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and that still stands as my favorite of their clips.  However, they have also done reviews for all of The Next Generation Star Trek films, as well as a few other odds and ends.  If you don’t have time to watch them all, then don’t miss the reviews for Star Wars Episode I and II, as well as Star Trek Generations.  Funny stuff.

Vulcan goes boom!

This new video is unique because Plinkett actually ENJOYED the film!  Even still, he manages to find some hilarious plot holes in it – the best of which invloves the science of blowing up Vulcan, as well as the mysterious ice moon nearby.  All of this stands as a nice appetizer to the promise of a Star Wars Episode III review, which we’ve been waiting far too long for!  This new review is unfortunately one of the weakest that they have done, and there is little here to further the storyline of the Plinkett character.  Oddly, the bits they place into these reviews discussing the sordid background of their reviewer are some of the best parts of what they do.  In this review you will get some amusing info about a cat he killed once, but little more then that.  I’m guessing they’re saving the plot about the victim that escaped Plinkett’s basement for the review of Episode III.  Still, while this is their weakest outing, it is still damn funny and worth your time.

Whatcha waiting for? Get some!

Out of everything in the new review, one of the most useful bits of information involves the timeline issue.  You may be familiar with how multiple Star Trek communities have expressed outrage (unadulterated nerd RAGE) about JJ Abrams decision to create an alternate universe for this film to exist in.  Plinkett goes in depth into how many other Star Trek plots have utilized time travel and the creation of alternate universes.  These few minutes of explanation should forever silence all critics of JJ Abrams decision to reboot the series.

While I enjoyed this Star Trek, I think it was ripe with ludicrous plot points that I wish Plinkett had explored more, but I’ll take what I can get.  Red Letter Media continues to cement themselves as one of the greatest movie review sites of all time, even if their reviews only come out once every month or so.  After watching this one we will all have to cross our fingers that they hurry up and get the review for Star Wars Episode III done already!

Get over to Redlettermedia.com now and watch their newest video.  It’s more then worth your time!

Dude, I love the Red Letter Media reviews. That guy has a twisted sense of humor, but I remember going through every review all the way up to his latest (I think the Star Trek one is it) in one weekend. It was a weekend of laughter and creepiness.
