This is the inspiration for the Talkingship Bad Movie Drinky Drinky’s.  If you’ve never heard of this show, well, then you have to hand in all of your geek cred.

MST3K debuted in 1988 and was the brain child of Joel Hodgsen, Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Frank Conniff, and Trace Beaulieu.  It centers around a janitor (Joel Hodgsen) who is sent into space by a mad scientist and forced to, along with two robots he creates to keep him company, watch endless bad movies. 

Joel left the show in 1993 after 5 and a half seasons, after which Mike Nelson took over.  The show went gradually downhill from there until the only thing recognizable to the original shows was the robots (but even their voices were different by the end.) 

“Why are you posting this now?” you ask.  Because I just discovered that three episodes of MST3K have been added to the Netflix instant que on my Xbox 360!  OH JOY!  They’re episodes from the later seasons, but hell, they still make me laugh!

Also, I don’t think many people are aware that the ORIGINAL MST3K crew is back together again.  The only problem is that you can only see the movies by ordering them.  The company is called Cinematic Titanic, and you can find out more info on their website.
