Default Split/Second

May 18th is going to be one helluva day for my gaming collection. Both Red Dead Redemption AND Split/Second are being released the same day.

So, is anyone else excited for this racing game? From what I've seen it looks phenomenal. The destructible environments look amazing and the action looks top notch.
Here is video. BONER!

Eh....it looks alright. I'm probably going to just get Red Dead Redemption boner on May 18th. Split Second looks to arcadey for me. Yeah, that's right, boner, I'm a racing snob.

I was super surprised by Split/Second at last year's PAX. Out on the convention floor, Disney had a substantial area, which confused me slightly, but once got over there they had one of the best setups for trying out their game. 10 stations, each with a big LCD and a controller, each running the game. I may have played it every time I walked by, because there was always an open station.

The only concern I have with this game is how much of it there will be. It seems like the kind of game that, once you see everything once, may not hold much appeal. Hopefully that's not the case, but me spending $60 on launch for this is not likely.

It looks great but I have a hard time getting into racing games (the only one I have even half way finished is Burnout) but maybe this destruction thing will hook me.

Alas like Lokela said RDR will be getting my money first though.

I used to be a racing snob, but for some odd reason i just can't get into sim racers like i used to. I loved Burnout Paradise, aswell as the DiRT series. I dunno, I Sheboygan my pants now for arcadey racers.

@Fisherman -- How did the driving feel? I hope it's not too loose.

It was many moons ago, but I do remember thinking I was playing Burnout on a track, right down to the way the vehicles felt, if that gives you any indication.

Excellent. If it controls like Burnout I will be happy.

Well, I downloaded the demo yesterday on XBL and now I can say this game will not be a day one purchase for me. It is fun and everything, but my Red Dead Redemption pre-order will take first spot for my $60.

Yup, the demo that was released was exactly what was shown at PAX last year, so you played what I did. Playing it at home didn't make it any better or worse for me, and the concern about how much of the game there will be is still there.

You hit the nail on the head right there. It was fun, but what concerns me is the re-playability. It's gonna be hard to beat the open world of Burnout Paradise.
