Default Do You Know Someone Who Has Committed Suicide?

This is kind of a personal subject, but I was curious. I'm asking because a friend of mine committed suicide last night, and I really need advice on how to move on from this unexpected tragedy. I'm not crying or anything, I'm just sort of shocked and don't feel any emotion at all.

So yeah, share you experiences here.

I've been lucky enough to not have to experience something like that but I have experienced deaths of loved one.
I'm sorry for yours and their families loss but don't feel bad if you don't cry or really even feel anything, everyone deals with something like this in their own way.
I don't cry or feel much at all when this kind of thing happens.

Yes. It sucks. You move on. I know that sounds harsh, but there's not much more to it. Some people will cry and try to rework his or her life in an attempt to understand this tragedy. Know that it's a loss and that you'll never truly know what they were thinking or feeling. Give comfort to those who seek it and get counseling if you need it.

One of my friends had a friend that killed herself after some dudes were threatening her and shit. It's just something odd to deal with because it is just an emotional explosion for everyone. You will grief. And you might feel guilty, but ... well, he just committed a selfish act. That's it. he just wanted to say "fuck you all" to eveone around him.

Yeah, I'm not really broken up by it. It's really interesting seeing how a lot of people at my school have coped with it. They choose to do it through facebook. Posting statuses saying that they will see him in heaven someday. The irony is that he was an Atheist and suicide is a terrible sin that would send someone to hell in Christianity.

But yeah, I'm all good now I think. It won't do any good to dwell on this.

Rough stuff. The best thing to take away from something like this is to try and remember the things he was saying, the way he was acting, shortly before killing himself. That way you maybe stop someone else from doing the same thing in the future. That being said, it is a wholly selfish act and no one deserves any blame for it other then the person that chose to go down that path in the first place.

But dude, he showed absolutely zero warning signs. None at all. It must have been a spur of the moment thing. Like he spiraled into a deep depression in a matter of hours.

Well shit man, my best friend back in grade 5 lost his older brother. They were really close, and he was a pretty cool guy. Popular, hilarious, unnervingly brilliant, and straight-A's student.

One day my friend came home and found that his brother had blown himself, and part of the kitchen up by mixing volatile chemicals and cooking them on the stove. He had to have known that adding heat would cause it to explode, and there were absolutely zero warning signs.

It's tough to get through, especially if you have that nagging question of 'Why?'. Just keep your friends close. Let them know if you can't deal. Open up to them. You'd be surprised how much just having a sounding board helps, and they will probably need the exact same thing.
