Since the show/this site has a lot to do with enjoying alcohol (in moderation of course) I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about the drinking age. By drinking age I mean purchase age, since I learned that some countries have different drinking and purchase age... which is kind of stupid...

My stance on this one has always been that if it is legal to own a gun, or go to war and kill people at age 18, you should be able to drink a beer.

The drinking age here in Canada is 18 and it does make sense never knew why the states didn't lower it to 18.

I voted for 21, because I've seen some real stupidity done between 10-21. I do, however, believe that if you've signed on to serve your country, you should be able to purchase alcohol. Maybe only on the Base or Post that you're stationed on, but it's not right that you can give your life for your beliefs, but not be able to legally purchase your own alcohol.

I agree with Farva about the stupid factor, and I think we should raise the enlistment age to 21.

I do think 18 is a little to young but 21 is to old so I'll go with the with the middle ground 20.

I agree with Jitterbug. If you can go fight, you sure as hell should have the right to get drunk.

I voted for 21, for basically the same reason Farva did.

18 is the right age, no question in my mind. Our legal drinking age in the UK is 18 and I think it works very well. 16 is too young, 21 is just obstinate and overly illiberal. I think if you're gonna do stupid stuff when you can drink at 18 you'll probably do that stupid stuff when you get to drink at 21 anyway and to be honest I think we all need the opportunity to cut loose and be stupid sometimes.

I echo the captain's statements here. I think the three years between the responsibility to go to war and the right to embibe alcohol is ludicrous.

I think the right legal age for someone to drink is 18 years old.

Agreed. I say old enough to drink is old enough to drive. Legal driving age and drinking age should be 18.

What makes you want driving to be 18 just curious? ? ?

I don't think that 16 year olds are capable of making smart decisions on the road. It's common knowledge that a teenage driver is more likely to crash than an older driver, so it's better if they wait until 18.
Besides, four 16 year olds in a car driving on any road is never a good idea.

I can see your point. They do have a law to where your not supposed to drive alone with anyone under 18 until you've had a year experience or something like that. But its not really enforced.
