I remember the guys on the podcast bringing this up awhile back and I have to say god damnit John Carpenter's "The Thing" is easily the scariest movie from the 80's that I have seen. That movie is the shit and Kurt Russell kicks ass and the video game wasn't bad either. So I'm saying The Thing for my favorite.

That's a tough call. The Thing is pretty bad ass, but I'd need to look over a list of great 80's horror movies before being willing to call it my favorite.

The reason I choose the Thing though is because I watched it for the first time probably 3 years ago and it scared the shit out of me. I went into that movie knowing absolutely nothing about what I was going into and next thing I know there is a head sprouting legs and walking away

3 words. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If you haven't seen it, the original now, don't get al shitty here, then go see it. Soon. Like tonight.

Came out in 1974 - doesn't count.

I saw it when I was a kid and was pretty traumatized, but it was incredible.
